PROLOGUE
Krystal looks at her reflection in the mirror. Today was no special day – just the usual as she has grown accustomed to. Weekdays.
Krystal is wearing simple working attire. A white strapless interior covered with a black blazer and a black knee-length skirt. It hugs her curves preciously. Krystal has a very nice body and curves; others would call her sexy but she never gives a lot of attention to it even when they were praising her for that. For her, everyone is sexy in their own shape and size.
She finally finished, she lastly applied a cherry-flavoured lip tint onto her lips. Puckering them together, she was satisfied with how she looks today. She is actually not a fan of heavy make-ups, so she would always prefer the simpler one. Just a simple foundation, light eyeshadows, light mascara, and a lip tint.
She smiles at herself in the mirror. "There!"
Her I.D. was securely attached to her neck. She is ready to go to work, she was just waiting for her boyfriend, Nick, to fetch her since his workplace was six streets ahead of hers. It happens every day; Nick would fetch her and drop her at her workplace before he goes to his.
Krystal and Nick have been together for a year and a half now. Her love story started cliché actually – the simpler way how a boy got his girl. They met at a party on a summer night and turned out that she has mutual friends. Krystal got to know him that night; talked casually and jammed together. After that, they stayed in contact, he courted Krystal and they were officially together after two months.
Krystal heard Nick's car honking. She immediately grabs her bag and quickly slides into her heels. She rushes out of her apartment, Nick welcoming her.
"Good morning baby." Nick kissed her cheek as he rests his left hand on her waist. Krystal warmly smiles and kisses his cheeks too. "Good morning too."
Nick, who's in a suit, guides her inside the car. She slides in and thanks him before the door closes. He then made it inside and starts the car.
"Ready baby?" Nick asked her, his eyes looking at Krystal in sparkle.
She nods and says, "Yeah, let's go and get it." They giggled since they have used the phrase 'let's get it' a lot. Krystal and Nick do not know why it sounds so funny but it just does for both of them.
Not wasting any time, Nick was off, and the two of them were hitting the busy road. While on their way, both of them talked about everything – politics, nature, music, Krystal's day and night, and others. It was a fun ride nonetheless Krystal debated on every topic. The two of them were like childhood best friends who finally met each other after years of not seeing each other.
A little later, the car parked in front of the tall and huge building. Nick got off and Krystal did the same. When she got off, she saw Nick scoff. "You should have waited for me to open the door for you."
"I got it. You don't have to do that every time. You're not my driver baby unless you want to look like one?" Krystal says jokingly and his eyebrows raised at that.
"Can my face only afford the look of a driver? I am offended, Krystal." Nick suddenly acts out dramatically – clutching his chest, pretending to be hurt.
Krystal laughs and rolls her eyes. "Of course not. That's why I don't want you to do that like you are serving me or whatever."
His boxy smile then flashes. He then pecks her lips. "I get it, baby. I know you don't want your handsome boyfriend to be seen and be assumed as your driver. I am too much for that role in your life anyways."
Krystal hits his stomach lightly. "So cocky, Nick." Nick just laughed and she rolled her eyes again. "I should get inside and you should head off too or you'll be late."
Nick nods, pecking her lips again. "I'll see you later at night, yeah? Let's have dinner together."
Krystal smiled against his lips. "Hmm... I'll see you then." She pulled away and ushered him to get inside his car, driving off.
And then, there she is, standing in front of the building. Knight Enterprises Inc.
Krystal has been working there for more than six months and she's been liking the soft flow of her work here. She is under the monitoring team of the company where she would track the deliveries and ships of the products of the company. Working in one of the biggest companies in Korea was not easy but Krystal is happy with where she is now.
Krystal enters the building and heads to her department. She greeted everyone so cheerfully as she entered.
"Good morning!" Krystal smiled enthusiastically at her co-department but she was greeted with worried and unamused faces. Most likely, they are panicking.
“Krystal! I thought you weren't coming today." Jenny called, her face was in total distress. Krystal was curious and started to worry too, so she asked. "Why would I not come? What is happening?"
Jenny gulped. "The reporting of the stocks was moved today."
"And what is the problem? We finished and prepared everything last week, didn't we?" She asks her calmly. Later, her eyes travel to others' faces. It was supposed to be next week but she and her co-members have prepared it since last week, Krystal doesn't understand why they are panicking about it.
"Yes, we did." Justin, your co-worker too, answered but their faces did not brighten up. Krystal's worries peaked, she started to panic slightly too. "What is the problem?"
"Well..." Jenny cleared her throat. "Mr. Jason is sick and took leave and there's no one to present it today. The CEO will be at the meeting and he will hear our report directly but Mr. Jason is not here."
And that is the problem for Krystal, for all of them. In monthly meetings and reporting, it has always been Mr. Jason, the department head, who would give the reports. None of them have done it nor have the experience in doing so.
"What do we do?" She asks them.
"Well, earlier, we decided that you would do the reporting." Jenny blurts and you have your eyes blink, then, widen.
"What? No. I can't... I don't know how to – why would you send me?"
"I'm sorry Krystal but you're the best we got. The meeting will start in five, come on!" Jenny drags her out of the department room, into the elevator and Krystal did not have time to complain or repel. She presses the last level.
While the two of them were inside the already moving elevator, Jenny hands a folder to Krystal. "Here, those are the copies of the stocks shipped and claimed deliveries of stocks last month. And this –" she hands Krystal a flash drive. "– that is for the PowerPoint. You already know everything so there is no problem, you can answer all their questions."
Wow.
Krystal just stared at her. "This is unbelievable, you are unbelievable Jenny."
"I know I'm sorry." Jenny looked apologetically at Krystal. "You'll do great, you always have." Krystal is about to say something but the elevator opens and Jenny drags her again into the hallway until the two of them are in front of the large door.
Krystal stares. She gulps. Jenny looks at her and pulls her closer and whispers, "Good luck! I heard the CEO is very hard to please."
Krystal's heart raced at that and before she could run away, Jenny opened the door and shoved her inside.
