Aarohi's POV:
What a beautiful room it was, covered with ruddy and white balloons, different flowers and scented candles. Everything was set up in a way that it fully fitted for a romantic candlelight dinner.
The lights were soft but it still gave me an explicit vision of everything. As I stood admiring the elegance of the room in the middle of the hall, I noticed the door being opened and a silhouette approaching me. A feeling of enthusiasm built inside me. Unable to control my excitement, I walked towards the door so that I could see the figure.
I moved a tad fast, so that I could see the person, well, not the face, but at least the outline of their body. To my surprise, a strikingly well-built guy made his way towards me. Although I couldn't make out his face clearly, I was certain, he had a remarkable face with a well-sculptured nose which enhanced his striking features further. He slowly approached me with red flowers in his hands and just when I was finally going to see what he looked like, my alarm went off, making me came out of my Lala land.
Kring! Kring! Kring!
Oh, God. Not again!
I hate my alarm clock for ruining my very sweet dream! Why does it always happen to me?
"Are you a child? Who talks to a clock, Huh?" My younger sister, Kiran said entering my room.
Why did she have to appear during my colourful conversation with my alarm clock? Now she will go and tell this to everyone.
Ugh!
I mentally cursed myself and asked her the reason for blessing me with her presence early in the morning itself.
"Mom asked me to wake you up as she doesn't want you to be late for your college. So get up and come down for breakfast." She replied. Kiran is 2 years younger than me but is very bossy. She's beautiful, sweet, skittish but can be damn annoying sometimes. Still, I have to deal with her as she is the only sister I have and the only person with whom I can share my secrets.
"Ok," was the only reply I gave her as I mused about the dream that I had earlier. Such a lovely dream it was. If my clock hadn't disturbed me, I swear I surely would have seen his face.
"Maybe next time," I thought with a sigh.
Smiling at myself, I got out of bed and hurried to get ready for my college. Once I was done, I sprinted down the stairs only to see my mom and dad arguing about something whilst Kiran was enjoying it. Well, I would have done the same if I was in her place, after all, they both were so cute when they argue and these small arguments are the only reason why they are still going strong even after all these years of their marriage. There was a time when they were having constant arguments however the situation was much better now.
"Good morning Mom and Dad," I said sitting beside them. They paused and glanced at me in unison.
"If you both are done, please serve me my breakfast so that I can leave. I'm already late." I said and in return, they both glared at me.
"Why don't you think about this before conking out yourself every day?" Mom taunted me with a scoff.
"Mom, please, not again," I whined for which she gave me another glare but this time served me my breakfast as well.
"Thank you," I thanked her and started eating hastily as if I was starving for months.
"Now don't eat like someone is going to snatch it from you," Mom pursed her lips. I ignored her statement, as I didn't wish to be late.
After finishing my breakfast, I quickly packed my bag and practically ran out of my house. I always intended to be on time every day but this traffic never let me do it. As always, I was pretty sure that I would be late today too.
I was grumbling to myself, completely annoyed at my current situation, when all of a sudden my eyes caught the sight of my most favourite pair of brown orbs.
My first, and only crush, Aaryan Agarwal.
Research says that if your attraction lasts more than four months then it's not a crush, it's love, and can you imagine that I've had a crush on him since 6th grade, which makes a total of 7 years of crushing.
Isn't Seven years a long time?
Sometimes even I didn't believe the fact that I had been crushing on him for seven years straight without even talking to him. Now that he was in front of me, looking as elegant as always, I bet my cheeks must be tinted with red, completely resembling a ripen tomato, something my best friend calls me with. I used to hate it when she called me by that name but now, I was accustomed to that name given by her as everyone now calls me the same.
I once again looked at him, almost scanning my eyes on him to look at what he was wearing today. No doubt this boy has a very good dressing sense. He has everything that makes a girl fall head over heels for him. Tall, well built, gorgeous face with silky black hair and his attitude towards everything. But as we all know looks can be deceiving, the same thing applies here too. Although he is very good-looking and smart, he is absolutely a player, a bad boy, and It always made me wonder when I think about why did good girls always fall for the bad boys?
Whatever I just want to look at him as it always makes me happy.
As I kept staring at him our eyes met and I swear, I was not mistaken when I say that a smile formed on his face. I was shocked at first but then composed myself immediately
Is he smiling at me?
I was hardly able to recover from my previous shock and I received another one when I saw him waving towards me.
Aaryan is waving at me...?
How is this possible?
This is like my dream come true!
Or maybe I was just imagining the things that I shouldn't. I blinked my eyes and glanced at him again to make sure if I was hallucinating.
He was still gazing in my direction, with his heart-melting smile. However, I was not sure if he was looking at me or not. My chain of thoughts was broken when I heard the sound of horns erupting in my ears.
Oh no, I'm standing in the traffic.
When I turned around, I saw her, the most popular girl in our college.
Diya Rai!
She was so beautiful, every boy would die for her attention and of course, Aaryan was also close to her. I looked at her again and acknowledged that he was not waving at me but the girl behind me. Jealousy and anger bubbled inside me but more than that, I was sad.
Has Aaryan ever looked at me? As he ever acknowledged my presence? Does he even know that there's a girl who is so mad in love with him?
If yes, what does he think, when it comes to me?
If not, will he ever look at me or do I have to wait for him like always, my whole life?
Avoiding these thoughts, I started driving and finally arrived at the college but my friends, were nowhere to be seen, I mean they would always be present before me. Where are they now?
In all, we are three best friends, Me, Apeksha, and Riya.
While I was looking for them, I got a slight smack on my head and the hit was enough to know that my friends were here and I was damn sure a set of questions we're going hit me now.
I turned and saw them both standing with a lethal look on their face. However before they could say anything I apologized,
"Sorry."
I then explained the whole traffic situation still they were not convinced. The look on their faces showed that I had done something wrong. what was it?
"How can you forget today's plan?" asked my best and the sweetest friend Apeksha, We have been friends for the past four years. When I first met her I never thought she would become such an important person in my life however I'm happy that now I have her as one of the most important people to me.
Today's plan? What was it? I thought to myself and remembered something I was not supposed to forget.
We were supposed to go watch a movie today. How did I forget?
They were angry and I knew that I was surely going to pay for it. Before they could begin throwing tantrums, I thought of something and finally came with a satisfactory idea.
"I'm sorry guys, but we can go to a movie tomorrow. For now, let's go to the cafeteria. I will pay." I said trying to convince them but still, they had the same face. I know I did wrong and I couldn't change the fact that I forgot about the plan. They were not willing to agree but fortunately, I'm the most stubborn person among us, so I managed to convince them eventually.
Just when we were on our way to the cafeteria, I got a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see who was it and saw Rahul standing there with a smile on his face. Rahul is my school mate. We were good friends from school and now we got admitted to the same college as well. I always thought of him as my friend, nothing more than that however he always thought of us, more than friends. Everyone knew about his feelings for me but I never accepted it, as I never felt the way he did. My friends always curse me for that. Rahul is a very good-looking and kind-hearted boy and not a player but I always saw him just as a friend, a very good friend. He always helps me with my projects and assignments.
I turned and said,
"Hi."
He greeted me with a similar response. I seriously don't know what problem my friends have. They always leave me alone with Rahul, making things even more awkward between us.
Apeksha and Riya were walking ahead leaving me and Rahul behind. There was complete silence between the two of us until he initiated the conversation.
"Why are you here? I thought you were going for a movie," he spoke up.
"Yeah, but I arrived late and also I forgot about the plan. So we cancelled it." I replied with a giggle because I felt so dumb.
"Okay," he replied, glancing at our surroundings.
Again, the same silence.
As we were going further I saw Aaryan and again I don't know why but whenever I see him, my eyes refuse to look at anything else and my heart beats so fast as if it will explode at any time but what I saw made me awful because he was sitting with a girl, probably flirting with her. They were so close to each other. I felt jealous. These are some of the reasons why I always decided to stay away from him and not think about him however I always failed in doing so.
I was walking blankly when I realized that Rahul was saying something and I ignored him.
Why do I always do this to him?
I mentally cursed myself and looked at him, his look meant that he was expecting an answer. How am I going to answer when I don't even know the question?
What did he ask?
