Chapter one
Michaela's POV
"What is going on here?" Barrett inquired when the man and I indulged in our stare down. I was ready to make sure that I moved on to the next level because right now all I needed was the ability to be able to seek the right answers that I needed and I didn't have the time nor energy to deal with people who had decided to be a pest.
They could go to hell for all I cared because that was even the least of my concerns but since they wanted to act stupidly, I guess it would be better to show them the stuff that I was made of.
"I guess you should answer your Alpha." I replied and was waiting to hear his stupid reason. There were a few people who managed to piss me off even without trying and I commended them.
This man was one of them right here.
"You heard what she said, why don't you go ahead and tell me the reason you have been misbehaving all these while." He asked him.
The man coughed and stared at his Alpha. "I'm sorry, Alpha, it won't happen again."
I scoffed, "that's not a reason."
Hr glared at me, pure hate shining in those depths and I didn't flinch. He was buff and I knew that itv was the reason he was feeling better than everyone else but I was here to show him that there was a reason that certain things weren't black and white
"Alpha, I don't like the way she speaks. It's arrogant and it's not condoned here."
I raised my brows in annoyance. Was he kidding me right now? I guess not, because he was damn serious about this and I chuckled. Some pack members really had some nerve. I knew that their Alpha wasn't a pushover but their hatred for me didn't make them see reason as not to misbehave.
I just needed the order to launch an attack against this godforsaken boy that didn't know how to hold his trap. "When have I ever condemned you because of your trapezium stature?"
"Michaela!" Barrett shouted and I stared at him in horror. He watched his pack member say trash about me and when I just said a sentence, he began to vibrate? Just wow. I mean, double wow with the way things were going. It was going to be great without me.
"I don't know why you're trying to make a big deal out of an anthill. Don't you think that it would be better if you allowed me to have some peace since I lifted the ban?' he retorted while I kept watching that stupid man's lips lift into a smirk. I could bet that he was having the time of his life and was probably enjoying the fact that the esteemed Alpha was on his side.
"Oh, I didn't know that I was an inconvenience, why don't you just let me go then so that I don't bother you anymore? What do you say about that?" I asked mockingly and he glared at me. Of course I knew that he wouldn't allow me to leave.
"I don't see the difference between being a prisoner and being free. For all I know I'm still a prisoner in your pack so..." I shrugged for effect. He wouldn't make me feel like he was doing me a favor when in reality if I wanted to go by the standard, I was the one running at a great loss. He could argue all he wanted.
The man's smirk widened and I was now curious as to who he was. He looked like he had lots of power which I found it hard to picture though. "And you must think that you've won the battle but I'll win the war. Now go back to your minions and tell them that I said that I won't be bowing to anyone's rulership except they prove it. Tell that to her."
He grew angry and I knew that I had hit a nerve. It was exactly as I thought. Priscilla was behind this. " Tell her that I am not here for her man so she should be setting people against me. I don't know how you lots don't have a Sha..."
Before I could finish my statement, I was hauled into the air and was being carried out of the hospital with me yelling loudly so that all the patients could see me and I could actually know that the accusations were right. " I don't know what you're doing but I was about to make sure that I schooled that man who is less than a preschooler."
He tapped my bum and I went quiet instantly. That was intimate and I I didn't know if he realized what he had just done or I had managed to frustrate him into going out of line. I was happy that I saw him lose his cool at least on a normal day. He was too aloof for my liking and I wanted to rattle him.
"I'm sure that your dear wife wouldn't like this. She would almost lose her cool if she sees that we are in this position. To her, it probably means that we are doing unholy things."
He smacked my bum again and I felt a tremor run through my body gently and I was a bit confused as to what was happening.
"You have a lot to say all the time, have you considered the fact that people might not want to hear your voice?" He replied and to be honest that stung more than any insult would.
I went silent and decided to enjoy the trip. We, or rather he walked in silence into the forest and I stared at him softly. There is nothing that is as scary as me being alone in the forest. It left a bad memory for me. I put on a bold face though because people tended to use one's fear against them.
"I can see your hands trembling." He muttered and I stared at him with annoyance in my soul. He wouldn't have power over me except I gave it to him.
My head swung up at the words and I stared at him. " You sure you don't need to go back to an ophthalmologist?" I replied.
He sighed and stared at me before grinning making a dimple pop out on his cheek and I stared at him admiring the way he was acting and I had a lot to say but decided against it. I would rather have some sleep and more rest than indulge him in my conversation.
"Are you sure that you don't want to say something? You're threatening to explode and I feel so ashamed for you. It's been almost three weeks that you've been in your prison cell and I guess you're beginning to miss that place. It's said that one can never bring certain people out of the gutter without them falling back into the pit where they belonged.
I was hurt by his words but I raised a brow and glared at him instead, intensifying my hatred for him. There was something that I could do that would destroy him totally but I was just keeping quiet.
I could see why the person bound him by a spell. I don't know what he intended to do but I was going to show him not to mess with people whether known or unknown because it would surely have repercussions.
I didn't know that I was smiling as I thought of different ways to deal with him and thus time without even making a hell of a noise. It was going to be better that I stayed away from him and his lovely fiance who was a witch. Well, she acted like one. I was not sure of that.
"I guess you're thinking of another havoc to cause. You can't just resist. It's a favorite pastime."
I grinned wider. He was on his way to his death but he wasn't aware but I wasn't even going to tell him that too. It was his business. I just needed something that I could hold against him and blackmail him into leaving so that I could run to my father and end this rubbish once and for all. Then he could continue with his sham of a marriage.
I stared at him for a minute, thus time actually getting annoyed. " Why do you have a problem with me? I know that you don't like me around but it doesn't take away my basic right. Don't I have the right to express myself anymore because of just one person?" I acted like a victim.
When I put on that show he stared at me with so much remorse before it crossed over his mind again. There was a reason that I was trying these various methods. It was to know the best one for me. Judging by his reaction, although briefly, I was sure of what I was doing. It was very good to continue in this line.
"You're everything but calm so wipe those fake tears. I know when you're being mischievous and am not going to fall for those cheap tricks. So what else can you do for us except cry?"
I glared at him in annoyance. " You're incorrigible. So what are we here to do? Do you want to get rid of me? Is that your plan?" I asked him, trying to gauge the perimeter. It was something I could run from him as long as I had a headstart and my body didn't start rebelling against the owner, then it would be very good.
He stared at me and smiled. " My love, don't even think about it."
My wolf sighed at the term of endearment and I rolled my eyes. These beasts were sometimes one directional beings. they didn't understand sarcasm.
"He's just being sarcastic."
"No, he's not." My wolf replied and I chuckled out loud.
"You're not using your meds today. What in the hell are you propagating?" I inquired from her and she smiled at me back. Don't ask me how I knew she was smiling.
"When you're done with your monologue, we need to talk." He cut into my thoughts and I stared at him in surprise. There was a reason that everything was happening jus right on time.
I stared at him in anger but didn't say anything though.
"We can stay here all you want."
I just glared at him and watched as he kicked a stone, sending it far away into the distance. I should learn some of his skills and see how I could use it against him.
"Alpha Barrett." I began with my head bowed down.
"Hmm....that's a first, what's the latest thing that you're about to do?" He replied without turning. He was that confident that I couldn't overpower him and escape.
I took a step toward him and made sure that I got rid of the anger that I felt. Maybe I should try another tactic. It could work. After all, all men liked to be pampered and their egos stroked, why don't I stoop to conquer?
The problem was that he would know that I wasn't being sincere and it was going to destroy a lot of things which I didn't like.
I touched his shoulder and he stiffened.
"What is the problem Michaela?" He replied and I stared at him, my brain was operating at a million miles per minute.
"I just wanted to know what you'd like to have. I don't want to fight you anymore. I want us to be on good terms."
He swiveled and pinned me to the ground, " You, my dear are a liar and I don't believe any word that comes out of that mouth. Why don't you use that time to do something better?" He replied and I sneered at him.
"Mhmm, that's more like it . you're not leaving and that's final."
