The Alpha King's Slave

"I can't believe you're leaving". Amanda pouts. I rolled my eyes.

"It's not like we have a choice, do we". My wolf Sage growls in annoyance.

"Be nice, Sage". I warn her. She growls and blocks me out. I mentally roll my eyes at her behavior. It's such a Sage thing to do.

"What time will they be here?". Katie asks. I shrug.

"Anytime now". I breathed out, falling back on my bed. It's going to be weird not being at home anymore. God only knows what The Alpha King will do with me. If you don't find your mate by 19, The Alpha King decides your fate. If he doesn't find you useful, he sends you away as a rogue, or if he does find you useful, you're sent to slavery.

Great fate I know.

Today The Alpha King is sending a car for me because I did not find my mate and unfortunately, I will be at his disposal. I've heard stories about him being cruel, ruthless, and showing pity on no one. They say he killed his own mate because he hates women that much. I, on the other hand, would love to find my mate, to have that pull to someone with a bond so strong that it can't be broken. I sigh at the thought. It would be nice. It just wasn't meant to be. My thoughts are interrupted by the ring of the doorbell.

"Brinley, come down, they're here". Yells my mother. I let out a frustrated groan. Oh, and yeah, my parents think I'm a disappointment and can't wait to get rid of me. My brothers Chase and Gerald have found their mates, and so has my sister Susie, and my parents are so proud of them.

"Coming". I yell back.

"Do you smell that?". Katie asks, sniffing the air. Amanda and I look at each other, wondering what she is talking about. We stare at Katie as her eyes turn black.

"No". Amanda and I say in unison. But before we knew it, Katie had run downstairs, and Amanda and I were right on her heels. Once we get to the living room, Katie is standing in front of this guy. He is tall, about 6'1", with black hair that is combed to the side, and the sides are shorter than the top. He has green eyes and an aura surrounding him, not as strong as an alpha, which means he is the beta.

A beta is second in command, the highest ranking next to Alpha.

"MATE". Katie and the Beta say at the same time. Amanda's and my mouths drop open.

Everyone is staring in awe at them. He finally breaks eye contact with Katie and turns his stare to me.

"Brinley". Says the beta. I nod.

"Yes, sir".

"The Alpha's waiting for your arrival. Are you ready?". I nod.

"Yes, I just have a few bags upstairs". I say. He nods and sends his two men to fetch them while I say goodbye to my family.

I hug everyone and tell them that I love them, and they return the gesture even though they really couldn't care less. Amanda and Katie walk me to the black SUV parked outside my house.

"I'm going to miss you guys". I pout, trying to fight back the tears that threatened to fall.

"Awe, we are going to miss you too". They sniffled. "Group hug". Amanda shouts. We all nod in agreement.

"Time to go". The beta says, and we pull apart. The tears are now freely falling down my face.

"Katie, I will be back tomorrow to pick you up?". The beta exclaims. Katie nodded and smiled at him, and he returned her smile.

"Brinley, I'm Beta Kyle". Beta Kyle introduced. I smile.

"Nice to meet you, Kyle". I greeted him.

The other two men stayed very quiet. I'm not even sure they are allowed to talk? I shrugged and turned my attention out the window and watched as my pack territory became a blur in the distance.
