Victoria POV

"Argh!" I winced, pushing myself to keep running. Truth was, I had no idea where I was going. The streets were pitch dark, the cold night air biting into my skin. Every time I glanced back, I swore someone was there, lurking just beyond the shadows.

The street lights flickered, one after another, only adding to the panic already tightening around my chest.

"I need to call the cops," I muttered, fumbling with my phone. My fingers were slick with sweat, shaking as I tried—and failed—to type in the right passcode. "Damn it! Come on, come on!" My voice was desperate, but my heart raced even faster.

This can't be happening. If I don't get out of this estate soon, I know Vincenzo will send his guards after me. I couldn't go back, not now.
