Chapter 45. A Sudden Encounter (5)
Claire immediately went to the body and inspected the leg. She examined the appendage carefully, noting the way it was twisted.
“I see,” she said slowly. “It would seem that he was shot in the leg first, and then someone, a hunter presumably, came to him and twisted his leg to this angle. Thanks to the special silver bullet, it halted the vampire’s healing ability and slowed him down.”
Jonathan’s brow furrowed. “But why the leg? It should’ve been on the chest, straight to the heart. Could’ve also been on the head to immobilize him for a moment if need be.”
Claire reached in and painstakingly took the silver bullet from inside of the vampire’s leg. Dark, sticky blood stained her fingers as she held it up to the lighting to see it better.
Jonathan winced, looking disgusted. “That’s gross,” he couldn’t help but remark.
