Based on testimonies and history textbooks, vampires were rarely blessed with a mate, which was why they were much colder and more bloodthirsty. They did not usually get along with humans, not like the werewolves who were capable of coexisting with them.
One of the major reasons for that was — obviously — the source of food for vampires. Human blood.
Needless to say, almost all vampires were not fated to be with their food.
