“Is that so hard to believe?” He pushed my blouse open, his palm warm against my stomach.

I caught his wrist, halting his movement. “If you were thinking about me so much, why didn’t you call? Am I supposed to be the only one making an effort here?”

Alexander’s expression shifted, something vulnerable flickering across his face before disappearing behind his usual confident mask. “I was waiting for you to call me.”

“You were waiting?” I raised an eyebrow. “You know phones work both ways, right? You can call me too.”

His lips quirked up at one corner. “I didn’t want to seem... eager.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Alexander Knight, afraid of seeming eager? That’s a first.”

“Not afraid,” he corrected, leaning closer until his breath tickled my ear. “Strategic.”

“Well, your strategy sucks.” I ran my hands up his chest, feeling his heart beating strongly beneath my palm. “You can call me anytime.”
