The cab rolled to a stop in front of the towering glass building. I glanced at my phone—8:02 PM. Alexander had texted earlier about sending his car, but I must have missed his message between visiting Mom and rushing home to change.
I handed cash to the driver, stepped out into the cool evening air, and smoothed down my jeans. After a day in that designer dress, the soft cotton t-shirt felt like coming home. Though knowing Mr. Knight, these comfortable clothes wouldn’t stay on long.
