Chapter 44. Instincts
Victor POV
When I entered the room, I saw something different. Soren is sitting at the table and Ayla is in front of him. In between them is a board and they are playing checkers. It's not an extremely complicated game, but it certainly requires excellent logical thinking. He's a little more relaxed and although it's almost imperceptible, I notice that Ayla is leaning back in her chair a little more, which indicates that she's genuinely interested.
I also noticed that Ayla's stitches had been changed, Soren hadn't explained anything to me, just that he needed me to deal with things in the afternoon, as he was going to be spending time with Ayla.
Soren looks up and smiles at me, while Ayla is thinking about her next move. I approached them carrying the food trolley.
"Good evening." Ayla moves the black piece. "I'll get things ready at the other table," I warn.
