Daniel’s POV

The city skyline stretched out before me, a familiar comfort from the floor-to-ceiling windows of my office.

For a moment, I allowed myself a sense of peace, a fragile victory after the chaos of the boardroom and the quiet trauma of the past few days.

The morning had been unusually quiet; the world seemed to have forgotten about the drama of the previous day, and I foolishly let myself believe that the worst was over.
