Chapter 96
Toreh was bored. There was absolutely nothing for her to do in the room other than sit still, and sitting still was nothing she was used to. Her wounds were healing nicely, so why won't they let her go? She decided then that she wouldn't stay here. She would pick the lock. Yes, that's what she would do.
Leaping from the bed, she searched the drawers for something sharp. She did find a crocheting pin. That should do it.
Kneeling before the door, she slit the crochet pin into the keyhole and began picking the lock. The door burst open then, and Toreh was thrown backward, the nightdress she had changed into rising above her knees. She looked up and was surprised to see the Crown Prince. Quickly, she rose, curtsying. “Your royal highness.”
