I should’ve said no.

Should have said I didn’t want to go wherever Kael was. But I couldn’t. As much as I hated that bastard, he was still the Beta of Fangspire, and I had to show him respect.

Still, I knew I wasn’t in the best mood right now, and I’d have to control my temper the moment I saw him.

I wasn’t sure how to feel after finding out that the Alphas had discovered where the leader of the rogues was and were hunting him down. The same man who had killed my father. The reason my family had fallen apart.

A thought crept into my mind before I could stop it.

If Father hadn’t died in that war, if he had come back home like he always did, if he’d brought the gift he promised with that same warm smile, would my life have been different?
