Claire sat back and looked at him with interest. Hunter was standing still, but she looked at him quickly to see if he was moving, but she saw nothing. Then, all of a sudden, his chest stopped moving up and down.

Claire's eyebrows furrowed as she put her fingers on his neck to check for a pulse. But she couldn't feel his heart beating; there was nothing.

"What's happening? Why does his heart beat? Claire's words were cut short. She put her ear to his chest and listened carefully for the sound of his heart beating, but there was nothing. Hunter wasn't breathing, so she knew he was dead.

"No...no! It's impossible! You will not die!" Claire yelled as she jumped out of bed and moved away from him when she realized he was gone and that she had failed him. Her lip started to shake, her chest started to heave, and tears started to well up in her eyes.
