Jaxon POV
The air in the war room drifted in and out. Outside, the wind howled through the mountains, but within these four walls, my mind was far from eased.
I looked around the table, Talon sat with his arms crossed, jaw tight. Callan tapped his fingers restlessly against the wood. Kale had a scowl etched into his face so deep it looked permanent. And Ronan... Ronan was calm, the kind that always came before he said something outrageous. I had called them privately to share our opinions together.
“This isn’t good,” Talon muttered, breaking the silence. “Scouts from Rivershade have crossed the southern ridge. They’re not even hiding anymore.”
I nodded. I had seen the reports. Rivershade’s subtlety was gone. That meant only one thing: pressure.
