I watched Summer across the training field as she worked with the younger cubs.

The afternoon sun caught in her hair, turning it to liquid gold as she knelt beside a little girl struggling with her stance.

Something tightened in my chest - pride, possessiveness, desire - all wrapped in a fierce protectiveness I couldn’t control.

It had been several weeks since Summer returned to the pack.

Several weeks of her scent mixing with mine throughout the pack house, her body warming my bed, her voice soothing the constant storm that had raged in me for five long years.
