“Do you really think it’s worth it?”
Evelyn’s mouth twists, and she frowns a little.
“I think we can be sure they’ll treat you well. It’s a small magazine that only just started. For now, the only architects who’ve agreed to meet with them are at the level of Nathan Dean. So you’ll be a triumph for them.”
“Have they written a profile on him?”
Dean hasn’t told me about his other projects, and now I’m more curious than ever.
“That’s what my contact told me,” Evelyn explains. “Anyway, the magazine is doing a series on competing resorts. This month it’s mountain resorts, and next month is island resorts—yours.”
“Contenders?” I ask. “In that case, they should focus on Cortez and Lost Tides, because…” I stop mid-sentence, because suddenly the pieces click into place.
“What?” Marcus asks.
“Come on,” I reply. “I’ll tell you on the way.”
I explain my theory to Marcus and Evelyn on the stairs as we rush up to Trent’s office on the 27th flo
