Venus perched on a small stool, her eyes wide and blank as she watched them. I froze, horror ripping through me as I realized the depth of Xerxes’s depravity.
“Xerxes, you bastard!” I shouted, anger surging forward in waves. Every scar he had left on my daughter, every trauma he’d carved into her soul—and now this? It was as if a red haze had filled the room, and all I could see was him, and the vengeance I had promised myself.
Xerxes stopped mid-act, turning slowly toward me, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. “How dare you all barge into my room uninvited, bloody maids!” he spat, scrambling to cover himself. “I’ll have all of you beheaded!”
I smirked coldly, my voice a low growl. “Only if you live long enough to walk out of this room.” The thrill of retribution coursed through me. “Now, I finally get to pay you back in your own coin, you bastard.”
