Ellen’s POV

I threw the gun in my hands to the floor, as I tried to come to terms with what had just happened. Everything had gone horribly wrong, spiraling out of control in a matter of moments.

Driven by rage and hatred, I had fired shots at Kamille, but as the shot echoed through the room, Zeke had already taken the bullet for Kamille, causing both of them to crumple to the ground.

Before I could process what had happened, another shot rang out. The menace looking man who they addressed as Chris, had taken aim at me. The bullet whizzed past, grazing my shoulder. Pain seared through me, but adrenaline kept me moving.

As he released his shot, Zeke’s men opened fire and so did his mercenary looking men. Amidst the chaos, I saw my father pull himself up and stood in front of me with blood spreading across his shirt, staggering towards me. His voice, weak but urgent, cut through the turmoil.
