Chapter 23. Almost Meet

Alexa seems to want to go out, but she is hesitant. “Will I go out or not?” she asked herself. “But I want hot soup. Lexie’s stock of noodles is gone.” Eventually, she decided to leave the house to shop again at the mall she went to the previous day.

By the time she came out of the house, Alexa had the chance to see the photos of the book she was holding attached to the light pole right near her. She could see it only a few steps away when her body was suddenly bumped. Strangers stood her up and asked, “Are you okay, young lady?”

Alexa couldn’t answer immediately because at the time the two of them met their gaze and stared at each other, Alexa felt she couldn’t take her gaze away from the stranger as if he were trying to get her soul. A few seconds later, she suddenly woke up in the present and simply said, “I’m okay.”
