Chapter 5. Holding a Press Conference
In a VIP private room at Eternal Flow, one of the top and most expensive bars in Lex Country, sat four impeccable, handsome young men with outstanding features—famously known as the wealthiest youths of Lex Country.
Three of the men each had a half-naked woman wrapped tightly around their arms, seductively. There were different, expensive, and century-old alcoholic drinks on the table.
On the stage in the private room, a beautiful woman with a seductive gown that flaunts her smooth lap dances to a melodious tune.
At the center of the room, a peerless, handsome man in a black suit leaned back on his chair majestically. His eyes were closed, and his finger gently held a lit cigarette. The cigarette smoke gave him an ethereal and illusionary, heart-racing image that made the ladies blush. The image of him made everything pale in sight.
Cliff pushed past the door and elegantly strode into the room.
"Young masters." Cliff greeted the three men with a slight bow, and they nodded to him in reply.
"Boss." Cliff greeted Maverick and whispered some words next to Maverick's ear.
Hearing Cliff's report made Maverick open his deep black eyes with a cold frown. "Still no news." He articulated with an indecipherable tone.
For five years now, Maverick has been searching for Valencia, but till now, it was as if Valencia had disappeared from the earth's surface. None of his people were able to catch her gaze.
First, Maverick's actions arose out of wanting to conquer that woman, but now...
"Preposterous!" Burke uttered loudly with a feigned cold voice and banged the table hard, making all the women in the room jolt in shock.
But in the next second, the women smiled coyly and leaned forward seductively, trying to outshine each other. "Young Master Burke, you just shocked little XXX." The ladies' voices were soft and tiny, but Burke ignored them.
Instead, Burke leaned forward with a mischievous chortle and made a waving motion. Immediately, all the ladies in the room, including the dancing lady, stood up and left the room.
"How daring of that lady who dared to embarrass the youngest billionaire genius on his wedding day!" Burke conveyed it in a deep voice.
Burke pretended to sigh deeply. "Young master Maverick, it's been five years; shouldn't those emotions have faded off by now?" Burke tilted his head with a mischievous and cunning look.
However, he froze when Maverick raised his head and glared at him coldly. "What did you know?" Maverick conveyed with a tight jaw, his voice harsh and freezing. That damn woman had not only played him but also embarrassed him!
The news of Maverick being dumped on his wedding day had taken the whole world by storm.
Seeing the killing intent flashing past Maverick's eyes made Amell cough loudly. Suddenly, his expression changed into a gentle smile. "Maverick. Tatiana will be back tomorrow, did you know?" Amell inquired and took three chugs of the century-old whiskey in his hand.
"En." Maverick concurred with Blasé.
The three became confused by his reply. "If you know, why are you still after Valencia?" Farrell was questioned with a confused frown. After all, it's famously known that Maverick's heart belongs to Tatiana.
"Not related." Maverick simply replied and shut his eyes, putting an end to the discussion. His behavior toward Valencia is meant for revenge, while his actions toward Tatiana are meant for reconnecting. How's that related?
Besides, it's been five years since Maverick pressed that silly woman down and thrust into her repeatedly, yet no one knows that ever since she disappeared, her voice and image kept flashing in his head—that damn woman had repeatedly bothered him even in his dreams. It was as if she had bewitched him.
Maverick's hand felt his suit trouser pocket, and his tensed body relaxed slightly when he felt that paper.
Even in that stupid letter Valencia wrote, Maverick still carried them about as if to assure himself that Valencia was still on the earth's surface somewhere and not dead. And he had to make that silly woman pay.
Maverick opened his eyes. "Find out the time Tatiana will arrive; I'll pick her up personally," Maverick ordered coldly.
"Yes, president," Cliff replied with a bow, and he walked out of the room.
Burke leaned forward, a crafty smirk on his face. He chugged a glass of liquor before placing the empty glass down. "Whoa, a new headline will take over the world tomorrow. The billionaire's heart had been conquered by the popular Miss Tatiana! Sigh! The netizen believed that you've kept yourself clean for five years because of Valencia, making your status unconquerable in their hearts." Burke suddenly paused.
"However, Tatiana and Valencia look the same; won't that make everyone think you're interested in Tatiana because they look similar?" Burke inquired with a serious expression.
Maverick put the lit cigarette up to his lips and sucked the smoke gently before puffing out the smoke. All his actions were extremely eye-catching. "Holding a press conference." He simply replied enigmatically.
Amell arched his brows, seeming to understand what Maverick meant. "If you hold a press conference to clear it up, doesn't that mean you're indirectly calling Valencia the substitute?"
Maverick puffed out a ring of smoke, unperturbed, and stretched his long legs.
"What does that matter?" Maverick replied indifferently. That damn woman had disappeared.
Also, Valencia didn't get married to Maverick, meaning that she was not a substitute bride. "There's nothing to substitute."
"She'll be made into a laughingstock." Burke and Amell repeated. Even though the two didn't end up getting married, they were in a relationship for three years, and clearing the rumors means he had dated Valencia because she looked like Tatiana.
Maverick pinned a glare at the two. Even though he knew they were right, he didn't understand why he found it annoying when they repeatedly talked about Valencia as if they cared about her. "You seemed to care about Valencia's issues." He asserted in a domineeringly cold tone, which sent shivers down their spines.
Burke pretended to shiver in fear. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty." He cajoled in a feigned serious tone, yet grinned like a Cheshire cat.
Maverick ignored Burke and closed his eyes. Upon thinking about something, he gave them a cold gaze and commented. "Eyesore."
"...."

It was 3:21 p.m. The sun was shining, and the afternoon was beautiful when an expensive, limited-edition black car sleekly drove into the airport.
People were attracted to the car immediately. There were only three of that particular car in the whole world. The car was a famous signature of Maverick.
"Master, we're here." Maverick's driver announced this as soon as he parked the car.
Maverick stopped typing on his laptop and nodded. He closed the laptop, picked up the green rose flower bouquet next to his seat, and alighted from his car after a guard unlocked the door.
'Ahh. Oh, my God. I'm seeing President Maverick for the first time. Heaven, he's more handsome in real life than in the magazine.'
'President Maverick, my husband is so ethereal. Please spare me a look.'
'Shut up. What do you mean? He's my husband. Hubby, look at me. For a gaze of yours, I'll happily go to heaven.'
The appearance of Maverick sent the airport into an uncontrollable frenzy, but despite the frenzy, Maverick indifferently strode into the airport.
Maverick wore a black tailor-made plain suit; his face was cold to the brim, but coupled with the flower bouquet in his hand, he looked romantic. Maverick's tall figure and walk were very catchy and elegant, which made people sigh at heaven's unfairness.
Many people took out their phones in a bid to take a picture. However, five guards quickly surrounded Maverick to prevent anyone from taking a shot of his face, while another five guards moved toward the people to stop them from taking a picture.
"Maverick!" An elegant and smooth yell filled Maverick's ears as soon as he stepped into the airport. And immediately, the owner of the voice ran toward Maverick and hugged him happily, causing a sharp gasp.
The airport turned silent at the woman's brave actions. After all, it's rumored that Valencia is the only woman who can get close to Maverick, and every other woman who dares to do so either gets their hands or legs broken by Maverick's guard, but contrary to their thoughts, none of what they thought happened.
"Maverick, Burke told me you'd be picking me up. I'm so happy. Because of you, I've especially waited." Tatiana muttered in a sweet and innocent tone that was able to tickle any man's heart. Her brown eyes were shining, and her small face glowed beautifully, making one's heart tremble in fondness for her.
Maverick nodded, unperturbed, but if one looked into his eyes, one would notice that his eyes had softened. "It's good that you're back," Maverick replied, and he handed her the green rose.
"Symbolizes freedom and a new beginning," Tatiana said astutely with a smile, and she collected the flower from Maverick before taking a sniff of its beautiful scent happily. "Thank you. I like it." Tatiana smiled and expertly wrapped her arms around Maverick's arms, sweetly.
Maverick nodded and ran his hand through his hair. He stretched his hand toward the luggage in Tatiana's hand, intending to carry it himself.
However, before Maverick could, a crowd of eager reporters rushed toward them in a bid to hear Maverick's explanation and capture the new couple.
"President Maverick, what's your relationship with popular star Tatiana?"
"President Maverick, in terms of looks, Miss Valencia and Miss Tatiana looked similar; is that the reason you're meeting with each other?"
"Président Maverick, are you finally moving on from Miss Valencia after five years?"
The reporters began to throw their different questions at both of them as if it had been planned.
A cold frown surfaced on Maverick's face. He had only thought of holding a press conference; he didn't plan on getting interrogated by the reporters.
Maverick had kept his arrival at the airport a secret, so he never expected that the reporters would come out uncalled-for and begin to badger him with questions.
Maverick raised his hand slightly to stop the reporters and order them to disperse, but before he could...
Tatiana bowed toward the reporters respectfully. "Hi, everyone. I'm Tatiana. I'll answer your questions. The relationship between Maverick and me is that of a childhood sweetheart. Maverick and I had fallen in love ever since we were young, so he's not replacing me with anyone else. And for the last question..." Tatiana paused meaningfully and glanced at everyone. Her voice was smooth, sincere, and clear, which couldn't help but capture the reporters' hearts.
"Maverick isn't moving on because Maverick had always been mine in the first place. As for any other woman affiliated with Maverick in the past, I'm sorry, Maverick, and I just had a disagreement at that moment." Tatiana suddenly covered her lips as if she had just recalled something. She waved her hands and bowed slightly.
"Ah, sorry, I just arrived, and I'm currently jet-lagged. Maverick and I will take our leave now. Goodbye. Thanks for the hard work." Tatiana conveyed herself in a clear, soft, and beautiful way, tickling everyone's heart.
She bowed and wrapped her hand around Maverick's arms domineeringly before elegantly catwalking out of the airport.
