Chapter 38. To Lose
Martha pulled me out. She locked the red door I came from before being pulled back to my room. My tears flowed in incomprehensible fear and confusion. The hand gripped my wrist tightly and opened my room.
“What do you think you’re doing, Isabella?” Grandma Martha said to me. I was weak from trembling and nervousness, so I sat in bed.
“Grandma Martha! What’s that? Why? Why—”
“Shhh!” she silenced me and approached the door. She peeked outside as if making sure no one was there and returned inside after locking it.
She stood in front of me and stared at me with pale eyes.
“Tell me. Now that you’ve seen that. Are you scared of Marco now?”
She asked and sat down next to me. She held my trembling hand. I bit my lips. Yes, I was terrified of why I had photos when I was younger. Why didn’t Marco tell me? It was as if my view of him had changed.
“I-I’m a scared grandma.” another tear flowed from me. She sighed and caressed my hand on my lap more.
