Chapter 144

Hannah had just gotten home thinking Brandon was at home with the kids but to her surprise, they weren’t at home. 

She wondered where Brandon had taken them. She brought out her phone and dialed Brandon’s number but he didn’t pick up. 

On second thought, she wasn’t worried. She knew the kids were safe with Brandon, probably because she trusted him. 

Why would I even trust him? Hannah!! You need not trust anybody!! She thought and just then the front door burst open.

Hannah thought it was Brandon and the kids but it wasn’t them. It was Jessica instead. She looked so sad as she walked inside the house.

“Hey, are you alright?” Hannah asked and Jessica sighed and went to sit on the couch, beside Hannah. 

“Yeah,” she said as she stared into nothing and Hannah nodded. They were both quiet as no one spoke.

“She said it was an accident, she slipped and fell on the fireplace,” Jessica said, breaking the silence between them.
