Chapter 207
Mason POV
Our daughter’s coming home today.
After more than a week of not seeing her, I’m beyond ready to hold her again. To feel her tiny heartbeat against my chest. To breathe her in and finally believe we’re gonna be okay.
Alyssa’s still asleep upstairs.
We brought her home around two in the morning. Could’ve waited until daylight, but she wasn’t having it. The second Dr. Summers gave the okay, she looked at King like staying another hour wasn’t an option.
And honestly? The smartest move we could’ve made was listening.
She’s actually trying this time—really trying—to follow the rules. Strict bed rest and all. And we weren’t about to risk her changing her mind just because the clock said it was late.
Getting her home helped King too. He hadn’t slept more than a few minutes the entire time we were at the hospital, but the second Alyssa curled up beside him—safe and warm in his bed—he passed out like someone flipped a switch.
