I didn’t even hear when Caleb had arrived, his footfalls down the hallway had been near silent.
One second, I was watching as Ashton made his way to my bed, and the next—I felt the familiar, sharp tug in my chest that always came with Caleb’s presence. I whipped around, heart stuttering in my chest as I saw him standing at the door, his eyes dark and unreadable, lips pressed into a thin line. His gaze wasn’t on me—it was locked on Ashton, like he was sizing him up, trying to figure out just what the hell he was doing here.
