Chapter 277. Raising the Dead
Aurora’s POV
I had managed to calm Maggie down, at least enough for her to be able to walk back to the condo on her own. It wasn’t easy—watching her break down like that, and it had done nothing to calm the storm of uncertainty brewing inside me. But now, as I stepped back into the office, the air felt a little easier to breathe, even if the unease still gnawed at my insides.
Caleb and Caroline sat in their usual spots, exchanging quiet words, but it was Alpha Camden who met my eyes first. There was a heaviness in his gaze that immediately drew my attention, a weight that I could feel pressing down on me even before he spoke.
“Aurora,” he started, his voice low, steady, but there was something in it—something about the way he said my name—that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. “There’s something we need to discuss.”
My pulse quickened, my mind already racing, trying to figure out what could be so important that he had just used that tone
