With a resounding bang, the door swung open, instantly hushing the room into silence. Suppressing a sigh, Domenico lifted his gaze from the desk to see his second son, his face flushed and breaths ragged, standing in the doorway.
In Victor's right hand was a little brown box which, according to its width, he suspected, came with a package just as long as a pen and no more.
But with Victor's tightened grip around the box, it was clear that whatever was inside was significant. Or something horrific.
So carefully laying down his bookmark, which was just a short red strip of material, he focused on his son, waiting to be hit, either with the usual tantrums or demands that he leashed Adler.
