Nathan’s POV

I watch Theo sulk as he leaves with Mason, dragging his feet like a teenager who’s been told to clean his room. He’s still grumbling under his breath, probably about how unfair it all is. Honestly, he should’ve thought this through yesterday. I get why he went where he did, I understand his reasons even if he handled it the wrong way. But he wasted an entire day alone with her. If he’d just told us what he was planning, we could’ve figured something out. We always do.

The sound of soft footsteps pulls me out of my thoughts, and I look up to see her walking down the stairs. She’s got that sleepy kind of smile that makes you feel like you’re the only one she sees. When she comes closer, I hold out a hand, and she takes it without hesitation.

“So, what’s the plan, Daddy?” she asks, her voice light, curious. She watches me closely.
