Thumping Heart

It had been three months since the unfortunate events, but Rohit had spent that time avoiding Amaya even more. Though he noticed how she always cared for Aunt Vedika and Samir and how passionately she pursued her internship, he couldn't bring himself to talk to her. Amaya was truly serious about her life, and he admired that. Despite his silence, Rohit kept tabs on her progress through Aunt Vedika or Samir, who often spoke about her during meals. He was happy for her and wished he could tell her, but he wasn’t ready—at least, not yet.

One evening, Rohit came home and heard Amaya playing with water in the garden with Samir. Aunt Vedika was there and invited him to join them. He found them having a picnic in the garden and asked what the celebration was about.
