Chapter 133

Pearl stared in horror as Vergel pounced on the alchemist warriors, making a barrier between her and them. "No!" she cried. It was Timothy all over again, but this time it was Vergel who was losing.

"Come on," said Finn, pulling her away. "We need to go now."

"Not without Vergel!"

"He’ll do everything he can to escape."

"Not good enough."

"Jump on my back or everything we've sacrificed to get you out of here will be for naught." With that, Finn shifted.

She hauled herself onto Finn’s back, staring at Vergel. He was busy tossing warriors to the left and to the right, and yet more kept coming. He went through them like tissue paper, but she knew he wouldn’t be able to keep it up.

Finn bolted forward. She grabbed onto his fur and held on tight as he ran flat out down the street away from Vergel.
