Chapter 33
Almera’s head tilted just slightly, and she seemed to study Pearl for a moment. She knows. Almera knows she brought them here to save herself.
"There are other alchemists in this village that know where the princess is, my friends; besides, why would you think I knew where she is?" Almera looked away from Pearl, busying herself by straightening the mess of papers in front of her. She pushed them this way and that, but never really did anything with the stack.
"Where?" Vergel’s bulky arms folded across his chest, but Pearl didn't know why.
"Vergel, you do realise she can’t see your intimidating stance, right? There’s literally no one here for you to impress." At the quiet sound of her words, he pinned her with his pretty, emerald eyes. A mixture of annoyance and aggression was visible in his gaze.
Okay, Pearl was lying. One person might be slightly impressed.
