"I think this is to preserve the respect and prevent some of us from addressing them by their names, rather as ``sir``or ``ma'am.``

"What's your name, ma'am?" I finally ask, not much courage needed to be summoned because I ask in an informal scenario. Her first reaction is a smile, then she glances at the floor before taking her face up and getting her gaze directed towards me.

"I'm Olivia. You can also call me Claire, this is what friends know me as. These are my two names but share the second with none of your colleagues, they don't need to know my name, same as that of other instructors."
