I was a bit nervous as I walked into Adriana's hospital room. The last we'd seen each other, I had refused to listen to what she had to say and I accept full responsibility for what happened to her. The guilt was eating me up, there was no way to stop it. I doubted she wanted to see me anyways but that wasn't about to stop me.

With a heavy heart, I turned the knob and pushed the door open. Adriana was lying on the bed, her eyes opened and she was staring ahead. Apprehension ate at my insides seeing her like that, I was overtaken with joy, she was awake and fine and I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around her. The mate bond pushed me to do that, common sense had me taking small tentative steps towards her bed. I've never been this careful or cautious with anyone. I never had to be, so it was slightly overwhelming.
