Amelia’s POV

I felt disappointed when he pulled away from me and without another word, he walked out and made his way out of the building. I could barely focus at work for the rest of the day, all I could think about was what he had said and if marrying him was what I really wanted.

“You should say yes, miss,” my assistant voice suddenly pulled me out of my thoughts and that was when I realized that she had been standing in front of my desk all along, “I know it’s not my place to say this to you but I see the way he looks at you miss and for someone that has been cheated on my entire life, I can tell he really cares about you.” She added.

My assistant and I had never been the type to have any personal conversations so I was surprised to hear her say that and didn’t give a response so she assumed I was angry that she had overstepped and began to apologize over and over again.
