“Why are you here?” 

Noah raised an eyebrow and spun the car keys in his hand. “Pick you up?” 

It was my car keys. After the text he sent last night that left me wondering, upset, and a little sad, I had forgotten that he had taken my car last night. 

“That shouldn’t be necessary,” I said. “I can go with the driver.” 

“It’s okay,” Noah replied lightly. “Can I join you for breakfast? My dad didn’t come home last night, so there’s no dinner and no breakfast either.” 

Noah’s eyes widened, staring at me as if he were a cat expecting me, his caretaker, to tell him more snacks.
