“Who is he?” Giovanna asked, turning to Elza and pointing with her chin at the boy in a far corner.

The girl looked around and smiled.

“The astral deer? You said you saw one of them next to Connor, right? Not all supernaturals can see them, not even my own people, the oldest of us say there's a deer for each of us, but I've never seen one next to me... I'd think you were strange if I didn't know who you were.”

Giovanna looked at her in surprise.

“I'm not talking about the deer! I'm talking about the man next to them.”

The girl looked again at the place she had pointed to and turned with a puzzled look to Giovanna.

“There's no one there.”

Giovanna looked up and saw that the man was smiling wryly at her, as if he knew the confusion he was causing and she was furious. She opened her mouth to say something, but felt Luc's hand touch her waist and her attention was diverted.
