Chapter 6. Mate

It was dark and the only light in the room was coming from a warm crackling fire in the stone fireplace. I was sleeping in a real bed, with the most comfortable pillows and blankets. It's been years since I slept in a real bed. Lifting the covers, I looked down to see that I was wearing a large shirt.

The ceiling was high and made of logs, I was in a cabin. It was a large single room log cabin with two oversized chairs sitting by the fireplace. A small kitchen and a door to what I believe is a bathroom.

It smelled delicious in here, like warm apple pie. I inhaled deeply, cinnamon, apples and honey. "MATE!" Lia jumped up and down.

"Are you sure?" I asked her.

"Yes, MATE brought us here." She wagged her tail.

I heard some movement coming from inside the bathroom and a moment later the door swung open.
