LATTON felt aggrieved, exhausted, degraded, unwanted, and used until she was wrung.
She slouched on the passenger seat looking defeated, she stared outside, trying her best to hide her sorrow, but her eyes betrayed her, and her tears rolled down her cheek. She wiped it quickly with her hand as she could feel Melody glancing at her in the rearview mirror. She didn’t want Melody to report to Lucian that she was crying, that his words mattered to her, and that he got inside her head. She doesn’t want him to have the luxury of knowing she looks vanquished.
Despite her efforts, her sobs didn’t go unnoticed and the moment they stopped at the red light, Melody instantly handed her a box of tissue. She smiles faintly at her with her swollen eyes, “Thank you,” she mumbles between sobs. “You’re welcome, Miss.”
