Chapter 244. Ava's Struggle

Ava didn't move for a moment. Her eyes slowly started to brighten. "Orion?"

"Yes! Orion can't wait to call you Mommy. Therefore, try one more time, hmm? This is the last time." Jeremy tightened his grip. "Push as hard as you can. For Orion's sake."

"For Orion's sake," Ava said weakly. As her eyes blinked, her breathing movements began to come under control.

Receiving a code from Jeremy, the nurse nodded. After whispering to the doctor, she came back closer and stroked Ava's arm.

"Okay, Mrs. Harper, catch your breath. Push as hard as you can when you're ready."

Ava nodded with a shallow breath. "Okay."

After a few moments, the scream echoed again. Ava's whole body was shaking. Jeremy looked away, not having the heart to look at her.

A moment later, the doctor managed to pull the baby out. Ava's tears immediately mixed with laughter. When Orion was placed on her stomach and dried with a towel, the warmth that filled her heart eased the pain.
