Chapter 39. Hurry Up
Suddenly, a sweet voice wrenched Cristofer’s mind back to the present.
Gretchen walked over, handed him a glass of juice, and said with a smile, “You drive today, so you can’t drink wine. Drink some juice.”
Cristofer took the glass and then asked with a frown, “It’s iced?”
“Yes, it’s iced orange juice. It’s very delicious. Have a taste.”
Cristofer returned the glass to the bar counter and said, “I have stomach ache trouble. The cold juice will make me have a stomach ache.”
Gretchen’s smile froze, and she said embarrassedly, “I’m sorry. I forgot about it. The juice is delicious, so I want to share it with you.”
“It’s okay,” Cristofer said gently with a smile and looked at her shoes. “You’ve changed your shoes?”
“Yes,” Gretchen nodded. “I changed into a pair of flat shoes. Do they look good?”
“Yes,” Cristofer answered perfunctorily without even looking at them carefully, then shifted his gaze to the silver handrail.
