Chapter 57. Failed Escape

Elena’s POV

I wasn’t just shocked, I was frozen. Petrified. And too terrified to even blink. What was happening?

I refused to believe it. All the planning, the running, the risks we took to escape Silver Crest… it couldn’t all be for nothing. It couldn’t be some stupid chase with no finish line. But the truth was crushing me.

Eric’s hand was locked around my wrist, tight and unyielding. His powerful scent filled the air, heavy and suffocating, wrapping around me like a cage. That alone shattered any hope I had left.
