Chapter 10
On Saturday morning, Dimitri arrived on time, and we were immediately on the road. We drove for at least three hours before arriving at the port where we could board a boat. We waited for the barge to leave the port for a few minutes after paying for our fare, which included his service vehicle.
“You should have told me that the beach is about five hours away from the city,” I told him. We’d been on the road since four in the morning, and yet, the destination remained far. I should have taken Lance's offer to join him on his island.
“If you’re aware of our destination, will you still come with me?” Dimitri asked.
“No,” I replied.
“And that’s the reason why I didn’t tell you,” he said while smiling.
“Whatever,” I told him while rolling my eyes. Then, I looked outside the window of his car, and I was amazed at the magnificent view of plantations and trees. For the time being, I refused to talk with Dimitri and focused on admiring Mother Nature.
