Chapter 80. I’m Sorry, Jackson

Not long after the nurse left, the hospital room door opened again, and Jackson appeared. His steps were slow and hesitant, as if he was afraid of something. When Emma saw Jackson, all the emotions she had been holding in suddenly erupted. She felt her heart pounding in her chest, and tears welled up uncontrollably. She couldn’t suppress the intense emotions that surged within her at the sight of him.

Jackson stood there, by her bedside, and Emma couldn’t help but notice the stark change in him. Jackson looked much thinner, his face gaunt and weary, with dark circles under his eyes, a sign of many sleepless nights. The confident, strong demeanor that usually defined Jackson had given way to an image of worry and sorrow.
