Chapter 40

I ran to the kitchen. There was a cook and a cleaner there.

I stopped at the counter and laid my hands on it. I nodded a little to call the older cook, but I was just as shocked when I pushed forward and my stomach hit the counter because of the hard object that hit my back.

There was a look of shock in my eyes as Luke’s large, long hands on either side of me screened my eyes. Those hands landed on the counter so I was locked up from behind.

I turned to Luke and immediately pulled my head away as our noses were almost touching! His chest was still glued to my back and his face was so close because he was still bent over! I also turned to the maid before speaking.

“What are you-”

“Sshh…” he whispered and once glanced at the cook. I close my eyes when his lip hits my hair. My feathers stood up and were immediately ignited by the heat. What the fuck does he think he’s doing?! “Don’t make any noise
