Staring out the window of their tinted car, her mind kept drifting on the moment she realized she might not be able to save him.

Could not believe she almost lost Rafael today. Not believing they were even alive. And together. Radina sleeping close to her bosom, Rafael’s arms caging them.

“Mi angel,” he kissed her temple. “Stop thinking about it.”

She turned to face him. Without blinking, her gaze tried to memorize his handsome features. “I...I can’t. I almost lost you.” She whispered the words. As if saying them out loud would make them come true.

“But you didn’t.” He pressed. “And you never would.” Cradling her face, he pecked her nose. “I will always be here.” His face on her beating heart.

“Promise me, you will always be careful from now on.” She pleaded.

“I promise, angel.” His rough gravelly voice was full of emotions.

She nodded and glanced away. “I will never re
