From Twenty-Four Hours to Five Days
After five days it dawned on Mary, Eva’s mother, that she handcuffed Tony to the edge of the bed.
“Oh my God!” she exclaimed so sporadically loud that she believed Eva was possibly on her way up the staircase to check on her. She covered her mouth with her hands and kept exclaiming, “Geez! Oh my goose! Oh my goose!” she exclaimed yet again pacing up and down her bedroom, and searching for her car keys, all over the corners. She searched for it confusedly and lost concentration abruptly.
The door creaked and it was Eva walking into her bedroom, with her frown shooting at her mother.
“I heard you scream, mom” she said and paused at the door, trying to predict the looks on her face, “What could be the problem, mom? Is anything the matter? Did anything rattle your cage?” she hounded her with countless questions.
