Chapter 2
However, he was not just a gifted businessman who was also perceptive and optimistic. He was the Alpha of the Moonlight Pack, the most powerful werewolf pack in Europe. Known to his kind as the most demanding, serious, possessive, fearsome, and badass Alpha on the continent.
He was a goal-oriented billionaire and an Alpha at the same time, who single-handedly rescued his father's corporation and pack from the brink of bankruptcy and extinction, guiding it to become the country's largest five-star hotel chain with branches in practically every region and his pack to be the most powerful and influential among the three werewolf packs in Europe; Moonlight in the north and west, Sunlight in the east, and Starlight in the south.
When he was a child, his late parents were forced to file for bankruptcy when his mother became addicted to gambling and became insolvent after being bitten by a rogue werewolf. Since then, their fortune began to wane the day his mother, the most selfish and greedy Luna on the face of the planet, transformed into someone he could no longer recognize, someone darker than the night itself.
After their parents were killed in a car accident, Rhye and his twin brother, Joseph, decided to delve into the business world and leave the pack. With his consistency and determination, he quickly became a billionaire, turning his father's modest firm into an empire, and then challenged the previous Alpha of the Moonlight pack in an Alpha duel, where he killed the infamous alpha and Rhye Gosling became the youngest of all the Alphas, the most powerful and the richest of them all.
However, he was vicious in every way. His strict schedule did not allow him to socialize with others, including his twin brother, nor did it allow him to rekindle his love life. Everything was about business, and him being the Alpha and CEO kept him so busy that finding a mate was not one of his priorities; after all, his pack had gone so long without a luna.
This was especially true after he discovered his ex-fiancee, Olivia, the one he thought was his lifetime mate, had an affair with his business competitor. It hurt him so badly that he condoned stress, suffered greatly, was vicious for months, and swore that he would never entertain any woman in his life again, nor would he consider finding his lifemate again in the future.
He was adamant about not thinking about relationships or giving any women an opportunity to get to know him. He devoted all of his efforts to his business and the needs of his pack, leaving no time for dates since he believed that love would lead to anguish, betrayal, and pain that would ultimately destroy him.
Perhaps, one day, he would open his heart to love, not just to anybody, but to the perfect person for him and his needs. His Luna.
For Alpha Rhye, every day, including Friday, was the same as the previous one. Paperwork took up a large portion of his table space. However, just because he was the CEO and the Alpha did not mean he was exempt from work or that he should have become a slacker.
He thought that it was his dedication and perseverance that had brought him to where he was now, and he had no intention of slowing down since he still had a lot to do as he continued to type on his laptop with complete seriousness, shifting his spectacles as he did so.
He doesn't have much of a life outside of work and his company. Joseph did inform him that he was not getting any younger and that he needed to find love again, with his Luna, and marry and have children as soon as possible. Usually, Alpha Rhye shrugged and continued living his prosperous but lonely life, as he usually did. In the end, his identical twin lived a life of his own and had his own set of priorities as a pack doctor.
Not until earlier, when he agreed to his best friend's request. It was Leon's birthday, his Beta, and being as busy as he was, Alpha Rhye had given him his birthday gift and agreed to give it to the birthday boy. Yes, it was a childish and stupid idea, but Beta Leon knew Rhye's dream job was to become a police officer and being an officer himself, Leon had given him an extra police uniform, and they ended up in a police cruiser for an hour. Yes, it was just a pretense, but it was an hour of his life that Alpha Rhye would treasure forever. Why not? It was not even five minutes from his so-called pretend job when he managed to land an over-speeding old Toyota, and Beta Leon instructed him to manage it himself and being on the edge of the grandiose duty, he went to the over-speeding car alone while Leon told him what to do and what to say, and to make matters more interesting, the beautiful blonde human but foolish driver accused him of sleeping with her ex-boyfriend, which made Beta Leon burst into heartfelt laughter when he told him about their unnerving conversation.
And now, having been intoxicated in his own bar, 'The Wolves'' in a private area made him think about the stupid blonde-green-eyed woman who had the nerve to accuse him of sucking her ex-boyfriend's dick. It made him smile though, and yet there was something he couldn't put a finger on. The woman didn't have a scent. It was like an empty, dull, dead flower, lifeless and unscented. Humans, werewolves, and even demons all had their own distinct scent, but the human had none; strange indeed, he thought.
