Lady Abbotsbury's carriage followed hers. Her coachman had waited for the viscountess to pass before cracking his whip and setting the carriage in motion, leaving Eden quite surprised that Anna’s eldest son had so ostensibly given her precedence.

The footman opened the door and Lucas stepped out, lifting his top hat.
“Hello, Cousin!”
“Hello, Lucas. I'm delighted to see you here. But isn't it a long way from home just to attend mass?”
