This had not been his original intention, but now he was suddenly interested in what Eden would do to turn this brothel into a proper home.
After the rectory of his childhood, she must have been quite disoriented…
“And you? The chef told me that you don't eat much breakfast, because you have so much to do. I have already kept you waiting long enough…”
“You're the most important thing I have to do.”
It was only after he said it that he realized it was true.
“Where are we going?”
The stairs went on and on. Ian had foolishly ignored the reception rooms on the first floor, the floor of the main rooms, and continued to climb the narrower and narrower steps of the old staircase.
Eden looked around as they crossed another landing, then another. Corridors, doors... It would take her a while to explore it all.
“Would you like to rest for a while?”
The staircase ended there, on a dust
