Chapter 5

Liam’s wolf was going crazy with anger as it watched the display. Liam didn’t understand why his wolf was behaving like that and it irritated him.

He needed to fuck that lady and get over her immediately before he did something crazy.

He’d enjoyed teasing her in the dressing room. He wanted her, but he was going to wait until he had her where he wanted her so he could forget about her and set himself free. But it didn’t mean that he didn’t want to tear them apart and rip out Shane’s throat.

Of course, Liam believed that it was his wolf’s dominance and possessiveness that made him feel so. He didn’t want any male scent on her until he was done with her.

“Alpha,” James said, slipping beside him, “we’ve searched everywhere for the girl you described and didn’t find anything.

He smirked and gestured to the PDA.

“Oh”

“Yeah”

“That’s the freaking Luna of Crimson,”

“Yeah,”

“And you still want her?”

“Yeah,”

“Oh shit, Liam!”

“Yeah”

“Come on, that’s like waking a sleeping tiger or touching the tail of a lion”

Liam chuckled,

“Does he look like a tiger? More like a puppy.”

James sighs and massages his temples

“It’s not worth it,”

“Not when I stupidly marked her.”

“Wow,” James exclaims, his eyes widening. “Buut, h-how d-did s-she, w-when, y-you?” He stutters,

Liam chuckled again,

“Exactly.”

James heaves

“How the hell did you even meet the Luna, you slept with her and even imprinted your mark on her?” He hisses, “Alpha Shane keeps that woman under lock and key! He’s very protective of her, so I heard, why shouldn’t he be? That’s his freaking mate and she’s also loved by her Pack members!”

Liam snatched his eyes from Shane and Nicole for a moment to stare at his Chief warrior.

“Why are you sounding like Tony?”

“Because Tony’s the sensible one, honestly if he wasn’t your Beta, I wonder what would have become of you.”

Liam shrugged, his cool demeanor was threatening to shatter. Firstly, Shane was still mauling in the name of showing affection, and secondly, James was right.

Hell no! He hadn’t felt this way before, his wolf was moments from breaking free and if it did, Shane would die, there were no two ways about it.

Liam shut his eyes and took a deep breath. He forcefully straightened his balled fists on the table before him and exhaled.

“You’ve got to think this through Liam, don’t do something stupid. You can ruin everything just because of a woman”

Liam shrugged, then looked back at them as they separated.

“Holy fuck,” James hissed on seeing Nicole’s appearance up close for the first time.

Liam’s heart panged and his fist balled again.

“Goddammit! I see why. She’s fucking gorgeous.”

Liam stifled the growl making its way out of him and tried to direct his attention to something else. She was beautiful but she wasn’t his type of woman in the first place. He blamed his wolf and the stupid mark. His cock was twitching at the sight of her swollen lips and hazy eyes. It brought back memories of their night together.

He was suddenly full of ire, he wanted to grab her and kiss Shane away. That’s when he noticed something, she wasn’t aroused. If she enjoyed being in the arms of her mate, the scent of her arousal would have wafted into his nostrils driving him crazy.

“This is Nicole, my Luna,” Shane said,

Liam smirked, took her hand, and kissed it, grazing her skin a bit. She hitched a breath and her cheeks reddened a bit. Her arousal swarmed him immediately.

“You’re the Luna everyone has been talking about,”

Nicole snatched her hand from him, her eyes burning with irritation.

It made him smirk wider,

“Ah yes, my Luna’s the most capable.” Shane boasted as he introduced her to other important guests.

“You have tonight to dig up all the dirty secrets about that bastard and give them to me.” He instructed James once Shane was out of earshot. “I know the motherfucker has skeletons in his closet, show them to me,”

James sighed,

“Yes, Alpha. Hold on, what’s your plan? I thought you’d be asking for a secure place to meet the Luna, so you can do your shit before we go home tomorrow?”

Liam gave him an unbelievable look.

“Jeez, I’m not that horrible, James. I cannot have her now, after what we’ve found out. It wouldn’t do.”

“Why then, am I digging up shit?”

“Why are we here in the first place James? Do we trust Shane?”

“Liam, I know you too well. You’re a cunning piece of shit,”

Liam smirked, his blue eyes gleamed with mirth.

“What the fuck do you have planned?”

Liam shrugged,

“She’s coming home with me.”

James who’d managed to secure a cup of drink and had been sipping choked. Sputtering, with his eyes turning red as he tried to clear his airways.

“My good man,” Liam sniggered, hitting his back.

“The hell! Liam! Have you lost it!”

Liam’s eyes darkened and he snarled at him.

“Okay, okay, fine! Fine! You’re the boss. You’re the Alpha. I’ll get the information and prepare my men for war because that’s where this shit is headed,”

Liam ignored him and directed his attention back to Shane, they were with his pack members now. All of them were gazing at Nicole like she was some sort of angel. His heart plummeted at the sight of them. If only he wasn’t selfish. He thought to himself.

“Liam,” James said softly,

“Yeah?”

“You’re doing this because you want to get her out of your head right?”

Liam shrugged, “Why else would I do it?”

“Actually, leaving her here is the best way to do it. If you’re far from her, you’ll be over her in weeks, and the connection you think you feel will sever,”

“Weeks?” Liam growled, “I need her out of my head and dreams yesterday!”

“B-but,”

“Besides, when has staying away from an interest ever worked for me? Just do what I asked. I’ll handle the rest,”

James’ shoulders slumped.

“You’ll be the death of me, Alpha.”

“Nah, I’m pretty sure that I’m your saving grace,”

James slipped out of his sight and went to do what he’d been asked.

Liam’s eyes sought and found Nicole again. Now she was having what seemed like a forced civilized conversation with a female pack member of Crimson.

Annoyed, he looked away, searching for cracks in this perfect party. Liam knew that it was all a facade. An Alpha like Shane hid so many things. He remembered how he’d successfully evaded his questions.

Liam smirked, he wasn’t leaving Shane tonight until he’d answered that question.

Spike his drink. He instructed through his pack bond.

A member of Dark Moon, who was closest to him, nodded and headed towards Shane.

Now, all he had to do was wait until Shane’s wit and defenses were knocked out by alcohol before acting.

“Hey handsome,” a heavily perfumed redhead purred, sitting next to him.

Crimson. Omega. Alpha’s scent! Liam’s senses jarred.

“So you’re the rough beast they talk about,” she said, inching closer.

Liam narrowed his eyes at her as he came to a realization. Every pack member of Crimson bore the distinct scent of Crimson and their position but Nicole.

When they’d met that night, he would have kept off if she’d bore the scent of Crimson or Crimson’s Luna, but she had none. Just her enticing scent and that of a man. The scent of her mate wasn’t even distinct on her.

Intriguing! He thought to himself.

“So, I hear you’re an untamed beast and that no woman’s pussy has been able to captive you,”

Liam smirked,

Brazenness like this irritated him and normally he’d allow the girl to think she’d won by following her lead until they were alone, then fuck her brains out, prove her wrong, and leave her obsessing over him and his cock. But now, his sole focus was the hazel-eyed girl that had plagued his dreams.

Red-haired continued pestering him, her fingers trailing over his skin. His gaze riveted to her and he let out a low growl.

She only smirked and continued,

He gave her a once over. Her cleavages threatened to push out of the corset top she was wearing and her mini skirt was mini. But her heavily colored face was hideous. He could sense her arousal clouding her brain. That wasn’t his problem.

Naturally, Omegas steered clear of those more powerful than them. He grabbed her offending hand and tossed it away.

She pouted at him, crossing and uncrossing her legs.

Liam paused,

Why’d she have the Alpha’s scent more than the supposed Luna?

“You play hard to get, big boy,” she nagged.

Liam’s patience with her expired.

And In a swift movement, he grabbed her arm and took her to a dark corner.

Giggling, she followed him.

He smacked her into the wall, his eyes gleaming devilishly.

Chittering, she reached for his buckle.

His right hand grabbed them and wrung them away, while his left held her in a chokehold.

She wheezed and gasped as her face matched her hair color. Her eyes watered and turned red.

“Look here,” he ordered, “Don’t you dare place your filthy finger or approach me or anyone in my pack again,”

Red-haired nodded, she had started seeing black dots.

Growling he tossed her to the side and left her.

How the hell is he handling his pack? Why should an omega not know her place? He asked himself.

When he returned to his position, both Shane and Nicole had disappeared. His heart lurched. His wolf started tugging, wanting to go in search of them, especially Nicole.

“Wow, this is a fucked up place,” James said breathlessly as he returned to his position.

Liam smirked, he’d known it.

“Shane’s a bastard. He’s involved in more dirty deals than you can imagine. It’s the reason why he threw this party. Also seated here are anonymous guests from other packs he’d signed treaties with who are enemies of Dark moon. and a whole lot of other rubbish, he’s done. He cannot be trusted. This party is to show his allies that you’ve got his back and that he can betray you. He’s trying to prove that he’s powerful. It’s why he’s being extra friendly. He’s a pure asshole. The guys hacked into their remote network and there was a ton of incriminating evidence against him. I’ve already sent the files to you. That’s not all, his Luna is not his fated mate. It’s all a lie. There’s a murky story beneath his relationship with her that no one is willing to divulge. It seems like everything about Crimson is fabricated.”

“Jackpot,” Liam smirked.

Now he knew what the topic of conversation with Alpha Shane was going to be.

“I’ll look through the other details later tonight. For now, I must find our gracious host. There’s a question I’m dying to learn the answer to. And find out which pack representatives are here tonight. Get me their details. They do not leave this place alive tonight or tomorrow.”

With that, he got to his feet and sniffed the air until he found a trail of Nicole’s scent.
